macOS Sierra: Airplay stops after song stop #610

Open janisc opened 8 years ago

I just updated to macOS Sierra. I am using Airplay with an old Airport Express to play music to my stereos. Music plays great until song changes. At this point next song begins but system audio output resets back to internal speakers of my MacBook Pro. For a reference I also tested Spotify, there is no such problem: audio output stays after song changes.

Using Radiant Player version 1.10.3.

Hi all! Two hours ago I'd updated from El Capitan to Sierra. Nice. But with getting new version of OS X I'm getting the AirPlay issure...all my life ruined, can't work, can't think, becoming angry and etc.

I'm using iMac+AirPort to get music on reciever. Just selecting in audio outputs AirPort and I'm happy. Music plays from browser. I got list of track in social network - after one track finished another start playing automaticaly - and next track sounds from internal speakers... if I manually (in browser! not iTunes or some another player-app) press next track - the same magic, output device changes to default.

I just want to stream sound via AirPlay how I done it for 2 years, all the sound, all-all-all the sound from my Mac to AirPort and only I want control on what output should be sound.

Anybody get solved this?

My specs: iMac MC814 (mid 2011) AirPort Express A1264 (7.6.7) Chrome 53.0.2785.143 (64-bit)

I've new info about issue! If opened Preferences -> Sound, there is no automatically change of audio output.

I have this issue too. It's quite annoying! Although I don't use Radiant Player and I haven't found a fix yet, I did notice a few things that might narrow down this issue. I experience unwanted audio output switching from Airplay to internal speakers when skipping (manual or automatic) a song in Youtube. This is on a fresh Sierra install. Airplay over an Airport express (A1264, firmware 7.6.7). I play music from Youtube in Chrome 54.0.2840.71 (64-bit).

The problem seems isolated to Chrome using system Airplay. Also I believe it's exclusive to Sierra, but I can't definitely confirm this currently.

Hi all! I've made clean install of Sierra and the problem is same.

And checked AirPlay issue with Safari - same situation like with Chrome: -next track -> change of audio output -if "Preferences-Sound" tab opened (minimized or not doesn't matter) all is good, like on Mavericks and Yosemite.

ghost commented 8 years ago

I can't reproduce the issue in Safari Version 10.0.1 (12602.2.14.0.7). For me Youtubes plays fine in Safari: no loss of Airplay after skip/next track.

Furthermore, when keeping Safari open after playing some Youtube in it using Airplay, it 'keeps Airplay alive'. Just like the workaround of keeping a Preferences > Sound window open/minimized. As soon as I quit Safari and press next song in Youtube in Chrome, audio output switches back to internal speakers.

Incridible!

PS: All my problems with sound while using social network vk.com

meskis commented 8 years ago

Having the same problem. When streaming music not from iTunes but global. On pause audio output changes pack to internal. It's really annoying.

Hello there! Got good news - I didn't tried bug-fix on 10.12.1 and for some time didn't used AirPlay from my Mac to AirPort, but now on 10.12.2 - it works! No automatic change after end of song in Chrome.

PS But Chrome was updated too... (Version 55.0.2883.95 (64-bit)).

Anyone has an update on this issue? For me nothing has changed... I'm still keeping a preferences window minimized so that Airplay doesn't change to the internal speakers after a song change.

hardanz commented 7 years ago

All the same. And now, sometimes, when I switch from Airport to Internal and try to switch back - audio output doesn't changes. Clicking nearly 5-10 times - and switches. Doesn't depend where I will try to switch - in tray or in System preferences -> Audio(((

Very sad situation.

Hmm yeah it sucks. For what you describe I think turning wifi off-on might speed up connecting Airplay.

hardanz commented 7 years ago

I don't use WiFi connection on iMac. Airport is connected by WiFi with router, and Mac by LAN with router.
