Sirepo/Elegant extension request #1976

Open smlund opened 4 years ago

smlund commented 4 years ago

In the Elegant code examples, you need simpler examples to give to students to morph into cases they might employ in their projects. I suggest building up the following: 1) FODO Quad lattice without accel
2) Quadrupole Triplet 3) FODO Quad lattice with accel gaps every 1/2 or full period 4) Dipole bend with edge angles 5) Achromatic Double Bend Achromat

Have diagnostics setup for all of these to get reasonable curves etc. Having these would help student training. Similar comments likely apply to other codes integrated in Sirepo.

Thanks! Steve

Thanks very much for the good suggestion @smlund We will look for an opportunity to add these new examples.

In the mean time, if such examples are developed by you or by other members of the Sirepo user community, I encourage you to send us a URL to the corresponding simulation(s), so that we can consider adding these to the list of examples.

Will do. I don't have anything worthy right now but may before long with various student exercises.

It might make sense to put the USPAS Fundamentals examples in the distribution also and update/improve those to provide good core examples.
