Describe the facets of Operation code

Code that implements an Operation (something that can be represented as a node in a work graph) has facets that interact at multiple layers of the software stack.

Describe the interfaces at the various layers or with the various components, and describe the software development required to implement an operation.

Operations may exhibit different levels of integration. For example:

• operations necessarily provided by implementations of aspects of the framework, such as an ensemble_reduce().
• trivially wrapped command line tools
• complex tools optimized within the SCALE-MS framework, such as gmxapi ensemble MD simulations.
• user-provided importable Python code registered with the framework.
