We believe the regular user will understand that entering "NAME ;; DD-MM-YYYY" is the format, and does not represent the actual input value itself as the labels for the fields are in UPPERCASE.
The UG does make the difference very clear. However, perhaps the usage of different brackets may be a suggestion, though it is not in the scope of this PE. Also, the suggestion seem to be for a separate issue.
We disagree that this is a high severity functionality bug.

Similar to the add lsn command, it might be confusing to some users as to whether they have to enter the NAME and Date portion as NAME ;; DD-MM-YYYY or enter them as variables (Do homework ;; 14-09-1222). Perhaps using different brackets ( ie. { vs [ ) could make it easier for the user to differentiate in both the UG and the app itself
