when running python bot.py i get this error message:

Did you type pip install numpy And pip install pyaudio and sudo apt get install pyaudio

ok thanks I've done all that. but I'm getting an error for OpenCV because I don't have it installed or configured since I don't have a webcam

is there a way of setting this up without using facial recognition?

See I have installed the hhsmartmirror project on raspberry pi 3b without proper installation of opencv , it worked perfectly fine.

If you want it without facial recognition Then open bot.py and knowledge.py and remove the lines consisting the data of facial recognition
