Playfair Display font throws an unknown error in IE9 #183

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use the standard embed style for Playfair Display
2. Load the page in IE9
3. Check the console, it throws an error:
      CSS3111: @font-face encountered unknown error. 
      2NBgzUtEeyB-Xtpr9bm1Cbe3AsAJmdYwF3n7gHK4QTQ.eot

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The font-face shouldn't throw any error in IE

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
IE9

Please provide any additional information below.

This also affects IE8, and since IE8 can't use the .woff as a fallback the font 
doesn't display at all in that browser.

This error also applies to Playfair Display SC in IE 11 with Compatibility View 
enabled.
