Background:
I have been using the GitHub Profile README Generator project for creating eye-catching and informative profile READMEs. One key element I believe is missing is the ability to include a banner image. A banner image can provide more context about a user's field of expertise, interests, personality, or simply make their profile README more visually appealing.
Proposal:
I would like to propose adding a new feature to the GitHub Profile README Generator that allows users to include a banner image on their profile README. This feature should provide users with multiple options for adding a banner image:
Upload Banner Image: Users should be able to upload their own banner image directly to the generator.
Banner Image URL: Users should have the option to provide a URL to their banner image.
Select from Options: Additionally, we could provide a selection of pre-designed banner templates that users can choose from. This can make it easier for users who might not have their own banner image.
Expected Behavior:
Users should be able to easily add a banner image to their profile README.
The generator should support both image uploads, image URLs, and predefined banner templates.
The selected or uploaded banner image should be displayed prominently on the profile README.
Additional Information:
This feature would enhance the personalization and visual appeal of GitHub profiles, making them more engaging and informative. It aligns with the goal of making GitHub profiles more expressive and user-friendly.
Implementation Steps:
Create a user interface for adding a banner image.
Implement functionality to upload images.
Implement functionality to add an image URL.
Provide a selection of banner templates.
Ensure the selected or uploaded banner image is displayed correctly on the profile README.
