significant dot-size variation when ran on desktop vs laptop (subpuxel rendering?) #61

Please attach your config file to help us reproduce the problem.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. run code_swarm on a desktop
2. repeat run on a laptop
3. compare dot sizes in equivilant frames

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I was very suprised to see the machine I ran code_swarm on apparently
having a significant effect on the sizes of the dots it draws. The dots
drawn on the desktop are much larger and brighter than those drawn on the
laptop.

Also, on closer comparison, the font displays differently (it seems
blurrier on desktop), and the final weird thing is that the date is
displayed as "8-Sep-00" on one and "Sep 08, 2000" on the other.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Both machines are using svn r276 on Debian unstable; both are i386
architecture.

Please provide any additional information below.

I will attach two frames that were built using identical configuration, and
indeed a copy of the same code_swarm build. Both are the same moment of
history. One run on laptop, one on desktop. The dot size difference is very
pronounced. Also will attach the config file used.

Now, I wonder how many code swarm videos I've seen were done on desktops vs
laptops. The larger dot size can lead to much more exciting videos, though
the dots are also more likely to turn into solid masses of color and swamp
names and details.
