Summary

Quartermaster is a proof-of-concept NPC for connecting Raid Guild members based on their skills. We have extended mprime’s skills bot (https://github.com/MetaFam/skill-bot) with RG-specific dialogue, cosmetics, and functionality.

This is a small, retroactive RIP for work already completed as part of the S3 cohort.

Why should we build this?

One of the key differentiators between RG and other DAOs is the roleplaying (rp) element present in our discord and branding. Gamification is a major trend emerging both in Web3 and Web2 spaces. Adding lite game mechanics to non-game spaces has the power to make work of any sort more meaningful, less menial, and downright fun.

Imagine a Raid Guild where onboarding is done much in the same way that a SimCity/RuneScape/Roller Coaster Tycoon tutorial flows... but all with the voice of a specific personality.

New raiders would interact with the NPC to learn the ropes, to get gradual access to new ways of interacting with the discord. Raiders could interact with a personality to connect with each other based on shared interests or skills.

We’ve focused on this last piece as a proof-of-concept.

We think this vision is worth pursuing. We think that this leans into one of the reasons that RG will be the best place to work in Web3.

Below are a few sample interactions with the bot:

Anything else you'd like to add?

We would like to flesh out a proposal for creating a separate onboaring bot with a few more features than we have here:

Is this still relevant? Should it be put into consideration?

@plor I think it's in "nice to have" mode. Been some time since we tried to get consensus on this. Govinda and I were talking about revising down the estimates to some amount of $RAID, but not sure if it's worth the effort or not. This can be closed until we decide what to do with it.
