It's kind of a pet peeve of mine, when a gem or npm package is released, but the releases tab on github doens't reflect it! Makes me think "something has gone wrong". I frequently check the releases in github to gauge "is this a active viable project" ;-)
My preference is to keep the releases in github up to date. Failing that, just to remove them so it's clear that the project isn't abandoned just because a older release is listed!
