June 13/14 SF workshop? #23

It appears we don't have an issue for the June workshop so I am making one. Causes.com is interested in hosting.

Please add tags: "San Francisco", "Needs Organizer", "Needs venue" (since it's not confirmed yet).

I don't know how I overlooked that one. I'll bet lesbianswhotech would love to coordinate something with us. I'm on their mailing list. Should I bring it up?

Omitted: "Should I bring it up" = should I mention the event to lesbianswhotech and invite them to participate? "What's the biggest space we have" = This could be huge. How many people can our largest space accommodate?

Awesome; are you thinking this workshop be the Lesbians Who Tech collaboration, or that we invite them to #12?

I think Zee and I had agreed that we combine these -- or is this a third idea? Can we delete this and move convo over to #12?

Do we still need an organizer? I could do it and do my thing where I'm the figurehead and take two newbie co-organizers. That way I could serve at point-of-contact for lesbian stuff.

Also, if we're collaborating with queer orgs, that could mean a really large event. I gather Pivotal can still do huge. Could we use them as a space?

So, I've started talking on the LWT email list, but not about this workshop yet. I am worried about accommodating everyone. We already fill up our workshops every time. I think we could easily fill up a workshop with LWT members because when I've talked about Railsbridge there, I've gotten a lot of enthusiasm from LWT attendees who are in marketing or sales and feeling insecure because they're not tech literate. There's a lot of interest in a course from these women.

As a LWT participant, I would love to see a LWT Railsbridge workshop. But I'm worried about crowding out the existing RB students or not being able to accommodate the LWT students.

The easiest way to resolve this, is just to have a really giant space. Another way would be to hold the two workshops in two locations on the same date, and then have an after-party together.

Thoughts?
