SF August Front End Workshop #29

There are no 'organizer permissions' on Bridge Troll, anyone can create a new event and is thusly designated its organizer

Thanks @sidhene. Sorry I was m.i.a for a bit. Had a family issue I had to take care of. But I am back and will start trying to recruit co-organizers and find a space!

Also Even at rackspace never responded. So still need venue.

Okay, I'm talking to Causes now.

If they can't I had conversations recently with Engine Yard, who hasn't hosted in a while. They have a nice big space.

EngineYard has had a workshop every Sept or Oct for 4 of the past 5 years. It would be neat to make it a tradition :)

I am waiting to hear back from Dev Bootcamp on Monday. Hopefully they can provide space for August :)

Okay, I think there was a comment on one of the threads that Engine Yard used to host every Sept/Oct and it would be nice to make it a tradition. I can't find it now, but if you can't either, someone on the mailing list will know. -A

New kids on the block here (MakerSquare). We can provide the venue. What weekend is being discussed? Early August would work best for us.

We have enough space to host around ~70 people. I attached a couple pictures as well.

Thank you guys so much, but Dev Bootcamp has already confirmed that they can host. But September workshops might still need a space?

So Dev Bootcamp has committed space and sponsoring food. This will be a front-end workshop because they can only give space for one day. The Date is August 30th. Does anyone want to co-organize with me?

@aneyzberg hi anna! my name is mario and i'm interested in co-organizing this workshop. i've TA'd a couple times before but i'm looking to be more involved with rails bridge. let me know how i can help!

Hi Everyone,

So I was informed late last week that our venue for the August 30th Front-end workshop cannot sponsor food at all (after they told us they could). I have put word out to my contacts to see if I can find another company to sponsor food, but have not heard anything back yet. I would love to still be able to have the event and don't want to lose the venue. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey guys! I am putting together the opening dec presentation for Saturday, and was wondering if anyone has a sample front-end presentation for me to look at. I missed the front-end presentation at the last event I helped organize. I have the traditional Railsbridge presentation, just not sure what we are supposed to cover in the front-end one. Thank you!

hey @aneyzberg happy Friday! And thanks to you and Mario for being so awesome. With regards to food, we can do reimbursements - so if you are able to buy stuff, do so and we will get you and Mario reimbursed as soon as possible.

Thanks for the info! I have been emailing with Rachel Myers and she was able to get GitHub to pick up most of the cost! She said RailsBridge could reimburse the rest. Thanks again!

Anna, just to make your reimbursement go more smoothly and quickly— if you happen to have some estimated invoices that you will need to be reimbursed for, feel free to send them to finance@schoolfactory.org (ccfinance@railsbridge.org) -- include your (name, email, postal address). If you send them before the event, we can get the reimbursement process started.
