More details will be forthcoming. For now, the simple checklist is:

If you are interested in organizing, sponsoring, or hosting this workshop please comment on this thread!

We are on track for our goal of offering two workshops a month! It looks like August and September are both set, so I've created this issue as a container for organization of the October front-end workshop.

I've designated this thread as the ROR workshop as a starting point, feel free to edit it.

I can help organize this event.

Just talked to my PubNub contact and they can hold this event for the weekend of October 4th.

Originally, I had this location for the October Front-End Workshop but we're about to have three front-end workshops in a row for the SF bay area. Plus, we haven't had a Rails workshop since June so I figured we should balance things out a bit.

Location details: -can fit ~75 people total -4 conference rooms with big screen tv's -large open area with projector plus sitting booths and portable tables/chairs for assembly -they can provide food too

Address: PubNub 725 Folsom St San Francisco, CA 94107

we're good to go for this event. just confirmed details with my PubNub contact:

Venue: PubNub, 725 Folsom St, San Francisco, CA 94107 Date: Saturday, Oct 4th 9:30am - 4:30pm (InstallFest on Fri, Oct 3rd, 6-8pm) RSVP limit: 50 students Food: PubNub will sponsor both breakfast (bagels/coffee) and lunch (thai food with vegetarian/gluten-free options)

I'll post the event to BridgeTroll in about a week.

Anything else we need?

aneyzberg commented 10 years ago

Do you need any help organizing? Or are you good?

mariohsieh commented 10 years ago

@aneyzberg Planning is pretty much done unless I missed something. PubNub has been super helpful with the organizing. They are taking care of all the food and they'll have someone on site for both Friday and Saturday as well.

Having said that, I could always use a hand during the workshop for logistics/checking peeps in/running one of the retros.

aneyzberg commented 10 years ago

I should be able to do that :)

hey @mariohsieh, just saw your workshop announcement on Bridge Troll. Can you add some language to the intro about who the workshop is reaching out to? Perhaps this:

This workshop is intended to reach out to women who are interested in learning Ruby on Rails. Men are welcome to come if you find a woman who wants to learn Ruby on Rails and come together. RailsBridge is emphatically queer and trans* friendly.

mariohsieh commented 9 years ago

@lilliealbert okay, i made some changes to the title and intro. let me know if there is anything else you want me to add.

lilliealbert commented 9 years ago

Awesome! Just published — email announcement went out to everyone in the SF chapter. :+1:

lilliealbert commented 9 years ago

hey @mariohsieh, it'd be awesome if you could post a recap of how the workshop went and any notes from any student or volunteer retros you had to the organizer's mailing list!

mariohsieh commented 9 years ago

@lilliealbert thanks for the link, will post a workshop recap on there soon!

lilliealbert commented 9 years ago

Thanks for the recap, @mariohsieh. Closing this issue out. :+1:
