I am visiting the good folks at GitHub office in Tennessee :octocat: and would like to host a Railsbridge there if you would allow it. @rachelmyers is my co-organizer. :dancers:

@jfryman @azizshamim @jameswhite @rick all work there, I'm cc'ing you if you know people in the community who we should reach out to or you would like to come hang out and help. In any case, is it alright if I have the keys so that I don't have to break in on Saturday?

cc @mlfryman if she would like to come or help out, and maybe connect us as well to people in the area who want to build their Rails knowledge - we have advanced as well as beginning material, so we'll do whatever is useful for the audience we get!

Here's a giant list of TODOs, this time with extra emoji! :tulip:

One to two weeks out, we can:

After the workshop, we can:

I'll actually be out of town (SF HQ visit) until sometime later on the 22nd so I might not make any of this. One thing that occurred to me is that I'm on a "Nashville Code User Groups Leadership" google groups list (i.e., a meta-list for various code related user groups), which is probably one of the ideal outlets for this information. It's a closed list, but they would probably approve a posting about the event. I can pass it along there for you as soon as you have the announcement drafted up.

Cool! The link I posted just now is the announcement itself I think, right @rachelmyers?

Oh -- I think I'm looking for something more like a blog post (this has a lot of TODO sort of coordination in it that doesn't look like to me what I should send to groups to Get The Word Out).

rick commented 9 years ago

Fwiw, I would contact Emma about potentially using their meeting space. They host a lot of meetups, and we'll be using them for Patchwork Nashville. I'll email you their coordinator's info.

azizshamim commented 9 years ago

Nashville Software School.

There's a Patchwork event happening on 10/29 - we can mention this then, too.

rachelmyers commented 9 years ago

@rothsa, I'll post an announcement soon, when we get the location. And then people can start RSVPing! (I emailed Emma about booking the place, so hopefully we'll know soon.)

@azizshamim It would be great to mention this at the Patchwork! Thanks!

Thanks for being willing to help me on this. I'm finding myself overloaded so I need to focus on work rather than reserve a couple of days for this, so I'm going to cancel this Railsbridge. I'm really sorry and bummed that I can't even with your help Rachel, but I need to be real. If someone else wants to pick it up, they are more than welcome to.

Well, I'm happy to keep making this happen, if other people in Nashville are. @rothsa, I totally understand if you need to step back; no worries.
