Since chromeos_startup now makes more checks to clobber stateful, this seems like a good time to mitigate the issue of chromeos_startup altogether. Since everything is open-source, couldn't it just be recompiled to remove these checks? Worth investigating. If not, a reimplementation of it would not be difficult by any means.
