I've been playing for a solid week on the XOOM. I can play on a smartphone
with a real or virtual keyboard pretty much one handed. That's my optimal use
case (flying in coach, stuck on a train, sitting on the can, etc.). The XOOM
is fantastic because now you have all this additional space. The way you've
brought in fragments is good for the selection of puzzles.
I would prefer a different layout to the solving activity. It's very two-handed
and involves lots of moving about the screen. The arrows need to be arranged
together instead of across the bottom of the keyboard. I don't know about
other users, but I tend to move about and switch directions a lot. I think a
5-way arrangement would be easier to handle.
Next, make the keyboard narrower and more compact and make the puzzle grid and
clues larger. With this, I can operate the 5-way with 1 hand and the keypad
with the other. I'm not writing a thesis on the thing, so if I'm a little less
than efficient tapping a "p" with my left hand, I'm not going to care so much.
