Wifi tether will not pass traffic from google or other sites #1270

samsung induldge and and HTC

firmware
2.2.1

kernel
2.6.32.9

version
3.1-beta6

enduser computers connected to the wifi tethering cannot access certain
websites like google but youtube works fine.
The failure occurs on various sites. Attached is a tcpdump of the phone. You
can see that the packets are received by the phone but at about halfway through
a session the phone 'burps' and a causes a whole chain resets and dup acks.
phone also reboots after a short usage period, like 5 min.

Update:
Switching to a different wifi tether software I was able to fix the reboot
issue. I am using a free one from open garden so there seems to be an issue
with the google.code release. I was able to blast movies from youtube without
crashing the phone for hours.
But I still cannot access google or yahoo??
I am thinking it is an mtu size issue but I made a manual change to the pdp0
interface which had an odd mtu size of 1423 and change it to 1500 matching the
other interfaces but that did not fix the issue.
I am stumped now...

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
phone not reboot and be able to get to google.com
Please provide any additional information below.

NOTE:
both computers are dual boot with Linux and when booted up in Linux the
software works perfect.
This is a winblows specific issue!

No. But do you think we have every phone available available for testing? The
latest beta is a few days old!

@hlSmellSpam: First if you use an app called "open garden" then you use exactly
this software. What opengarden did is to take our source-code make some colored
icons and put it on android market. The opengarden soft is the same like
version 2.0.8-pre1.

If your devices rebootes try to set "setup-method" to "wext (adhoc)". This is
the same "method" the old version is using!

If you are only able to surf on google-sites go the app-setting and try to
enable "MSS Clamping" and/or "Routing fix" (these options might be
invisible/deactivated if the kernel on your phone doesn't support needed
features/options).

I stand corrected, it does work with it set to ad-hoc, it only takes 20 minutes
to see google.com in full.
Same 2 different laptops, same two different phones.
Won't fix?
Your code is jacked up and I bet you anything its your mtu caching sux butt
nutz.
Fix your code dude!
