Tethering Nintendo DSi #258

Which device (manufacturer, type)?Motorola Droid (VerizonWireless)

Which firmware is installed?sholes 2.0.3

What version of wireless tether are you using?
2.0 Pre-3

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connect to tether via Nintendo DSI
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I see a Nintendo error code, that when researched mentions that it may have
to do with my WEP key, but I am not using the WEP key option on the tether.
Also I do not 'see' the network in the list for the DSI, I manually enter
the SSID. Any ideas?
FYI - I have tethered with most everything else, and it works great. The
Nintendo is for those long car rides with the kids... Thanks.

Please provide any additional information below.

Nintendo DS does not support connecting to AdHoc networks (which would be
required).
The only two ways for this to work are:

1) Nintendo supports AdHoc. Totally out of our control.
2) Get Android wifi drivers to support Master mode. Also effectively out of our
control.

Actually, it is possible to get the DSi to tether. I've done it myself. All you
need
to do is to select the advanced connection options within the DSi menu- i.e
choose
one of connections 4, 5 or 6. Input the SSID and WEP key if you're using one,
and
then the DSi will connect just fine. I'm not sure exactly why it works. All I
know is
that connections 4, 5 and 6 support more advanced connections. Now you're able
to
access the DSi shop/browser etc.
As far as I know, you won't be able to play online though on old DS games-
simply
because DS games are only programmed to use connection options 1, 2 and 3 for
online
play. But hey, it's progress.
