WEP-encryption on windows XP - possible solution

HTC EVO

Which firmware is installed?
FROYO 2.2 rooted

What version of wireless tether are you using?
2.0.5-pre8

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. WEP-encryption on windows XP

With WEP encryption enabled on my phone, I was able to connect on my wife's 
laptop (windows XP) w/o any issues.  However when I went to connect my laptop 
(also windosw XP)  it would take along time and timeout trying to connect and 
would also error when I entered the wep key.

I found this llink in this forum  and installed the windowsXP update and was 
able to connnect my laptop w/o any issues.  Thought this might be of some help..
