GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Samsung Epic
Firmware version 2.1 -update1
Kernel 2.6.29
Wifi tether tested 2.05-pre06 to -pre11

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. installed, granted superuser access
2. rooted using one click root exploitv2.3.0
3. intalled sprint over air update on about October 20 2010

Wifi tether starts normal, checked log and didn't see any errors
Laptop running Vista x64, detects wifi signal SSID 100% signal. screen on the
phone doesn't show any traffic activity. Attempted to connect to network and
could not connect. Tried multiple versions of Wifi tether and got no results.

Could it be due to the OTA update? Verified root and phone still rooted.
Is any one having this problem, possible solution.
Please provide any additional information below.

I'm having the same problem. My iPod will connect to the phone, however, but my
laptop will not (Win7x64)

Had the same issue with the same specs. Market was outdated.
Resolved by installing wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre14.apk

My laptop didn't find my phone at first, then I turned on Access-Control. So
enable that to test.

Could be a vendor issue. I tested using a TP-Link USB dongle and it connected
just fine. iPods connect just fine and my friend's HP laptop connected just
fine. The OP's laptop and my Sony VAIO (VGN-FW170J) which uses an Intel WiFi
Link 5100AGN (802.11a/b/g/n) wireless card.

As discussed in issue 244
(http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/issues/detail?id=244) updating my
WiFi drivers solved the problem

YES The driver update did it for me! Working fine. Don't only rely on Windows
Driver update only. Try it first to see if that would resolved it. If not go to
the wifi manufacturer and get their latest driver's update DIRECTLY from their
website.
