No Internet connection after phone "sleeps" (screen is off for more than few minutes) #684

Which device (manufacturer, type)?
Evo 4G

Which firmware is installed?
Stock root 2.2 Froyo w/ UnrEVOked 3.2.1, NAND lock off

What version of wireless tether are you using?
2.0.5 pre-9, pre-11, pre-12

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start wireless tether, connect PC to Evo WiFi
2. Turn off screen, wait a few minutes (usually 4-6 minutes)
3. Lose Internet connectivity

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Should have internet connection anytime tether is on even when the screen is
off and phone is "sleeping".

Please provide any additional information below.

PC recognizes and is still connected to WiFi with valid IP address, however
there is no access to web pages or downloads (Win7 reports it has Internet
connection and browser is not working offline.) It appears whenever the phone
goes to "sleep", the internet connection is put to sleep with the phone.
Whenever I turn the screen back on, web pages load with no problem.

This problem occurs with the versions of A-W-T listed above, as they are the
ones I have used and experienced this problem. It also does not matter what
channel I use or if Access Control or Encryption is enabled or not.

Pre-15 fixes this problem. Connection stays active when screen turns off.

You can mark this as resolved.
