Bluetooth Unavailable

Which device (manufacturer, type)?
Samsung Intercept on Virgin Mobile
Which firmware is installed?
Ubuntdroid 3 based on 2.1
What version of wireless tether are you using?
2.0.6 from google code
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. launching the app
2.press menu
3. go into settings

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
To be able to use bluetooth instead of wifi but bt is greyed out.
Please provide any additional information below.
I'm running squeeljoy 2.2 but i've tried cherry, inxane, stock, and kuro.I'm 
trying get bt pan to tether with my archos 70.

Okay i've made some progress. i'm currently using stock with the new vampirefo 
kernel. I can now choose bt but when I start tethering I get "your phone is an 
unknown state - try to reboot" and both the enable and disble buttons are on 
the screen.
