DNS lookup fails

Which device (manufacturer, type)? HTC Thunderbolt

Which firmware is installed? Stock w/custom kernal - rooted.  Android 2.2.1, 
baseband 1.16, kernal 2.6.32.21-one-bamf-v1.1-g42c541c-dirty

What version of wireless tether are you using?   2.0.7

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.  Run wireless tether
2.  Connect 
3.  DHCP serves up valid IP address, but dns lookup fails.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I have same problem, I have ! mark on computer and says limited connection. 
When I run trouble shoot dns fails. 

Custom Kernal rooted
BAMF 1.4

Well. Try the latest experimental version - currently version 3.0-pre12. This 
one lets you configure the dns-servers.

I've tried the latest experimental version.  I get the same results.

I ended up finding a wireless tether fix on xda developers in the das bamf 
thread, mine has been working ever since.  So it isn't a problem with Wireless 
tether I don't think.
