APNdroid Beta does not work with 3G Watchdog #96

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install "3G Watchdog" version 0.27.1
2. Install "APNdroid Beta" version 3.0.4
3. Go to "3G Watchdog" settings, and try to enable "Auto-disable 3G"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect that the "Auto-disable 3G" checkbox be enabled, and that I can select
the "Via APNdroid" radio button. Instead, both options are disabled.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Nexus S (AT&T radio)
Android 2.3.3 GRI54
"3G Watchdog" 0.27.1
"APNdroid Beta" 3.0.4

Please provide any additional information below.

APNdroid is now available on the market again. I removed "APNdroid Beta" and
installed APNdroid verion 2.1.18. "3g Watchdog" now recognizes APNdroid and I
was able to enable "Auto-disable 3G".

So I guess there is a problem with the way other apps detect if APNdroid is
installed or not. Does this same problem occur with "APNdroid Pro"?

No, the Pro version should work just fine. The problem is that Beta version
needs few fixes, that are already in codebase, but not in Market build.

Hi,

I'm the author of 3G Watchdog. The app recognizes that APNdroid is installed
via its package name, either "com.google.code.apndroid" for APNdroid, or
"com.codecarpet.apndroid.pro" for APNdroid Pro, so I guess the beta had a
different package name.

@Martin: Please notify me (contact@3gwatchdog.fr) when you add a new package
name.

Richard
