The current "Unsaved changes" on close dialog, could need some revision.

is IMO a good idea.

I actually hate this dialog. Changing it will not save me clicks.
I would like to have something like this in preferences:
Saving games:
(checkbox) Ask when closing unsaved games
(checkbox) Autosave when local game finishes
(textbox for filename for local games)
(checkbox) Autosave when played FICS game finishes
(textbox for filename for played FICS games)
(checkbox) Autosave when observed FICS game finishes
(textbox for filename for observed FICS games)

Obviously not all of these are of the highest importance, but still being able
to
play with pychess and do not ever get any distracting popup dialog, is
something I
would love you for. :-)
And if autosaving is done (it is another issue for that, I know) then it should
be
quite easy to possibly save different types of games into separate files.

I like these ideas, especially the first, as i generally never want to save my
played
games at all.

When we get the database integrated, all games can be autosaved transparently.

I believe what we have now stretches for what was meant back in 2007.
A more 'chessy' concept of saving will come with the database.
