Honestly, he has done a pretty good job maintaining the project with some quality-of-life improvements. They as a whole fit perfectly here in the mainline repo, maybe coupled with a release to allow package maintainers to distribute these changes to their users.

These would be good to merge but perhaps as separate pull requests.
