Upstreaming cross-compiling patches - synocommunity #1037

Within the SynoCommunity https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc framework we've been maintaining patches that allows rtorrent and libtorrent to be crossed-compiled over multiple of arches. Would be great if theses patches in a form or another would be merged upstream directly.

I'd happily do so but I ain't that good with autogen ... a few hints on how to approach this would be welcomed. I had a look at it and the patchset applies over once ./autogen.sh has been executed. I'm having a hard time figuring out what and where changes needs to be applied pre instead of post autogen to generate the resulting src/Makefile.in and configure.
