assorted issues with our built git

git log doesn't work; gets an error about bogus time, idk how without threads but maybe our timewrapper needs locking
git stash will create a stash but commands to do anything with the stash give invalid ref

the time parsing was due to out of spec replacement strtoull; it was fixed
