this is mostly related to projects funded by non-vc / grants. to my knowledge npm is vc funded but i don't know all the details.

mafintosh commented 8 years ago

actually after re-reading the project description we don't really mention that. @ralphtheninja whats your thoughts on this o/

We should probably be more explicit about that

@mafintosh Updated readme

strugee commented 8 years ago

Yeah, npm is VC funded. Pushed a rebased fix.

Ghost is based on a foundation model, though, not a grant model. Does that mean that it's not interesting to this project? If so this PR should probably be closed

mafintosh commented 8 years ago

How does the foundation model work?

ralphtheninja commented 8 years ago

@mafintosh Maybe we should say non-vc funded in the readme? :)

To me anything that's non-vc funded is interesting

mafintosh commented 8 years ago

@ralphtheninja i agree with both your comments. any non-vc funding is interesting

ralphtheninja commented 8 years ago

@strugee Thanks! I'll update with a short description.

strugee commented 8 years ago

@mafintosh the link I put in the README explains how Ghost does it. tl;dr they have a hosted version and the money from that goes into a non-profit that finances the development of the platform

@ralphtheninja no problem!
