Detect by advance if preview is supported by the browser or not #4

In my current upload script, I display a preview that is computed by the server 
after the upload. I 
would like to move to  display the preview before the upload when possible (IE6 
and IE7) and fall 
back to my old system if it's not the case.

is there a reliable way to check this ?
