KML in Google Maps - Random Placemark drawing order #268

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Which products are affected?
Google Maps - Display of overlapping placemarks from KML is not
reproducible, apparently not controllable.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load this Map: http://bit.ly/30MsEQ in multiple windows.
Calls this KML file: http://home.olemiss.edu/~mmossing/oxmsbike090320e.kml
2. Observe the random drawing order of the polylines
3.

What is the expected output or behavior?

Would like to show bike lanes (as opposed to routes) by drawing a thin
white roadway <LineString> on top of a wider colored bikelane.

What do you see instead?

Every time the map loads the drawing order changes. All "Lanes " are
listed prior to the roadways in the kml file but sometimes the white
is on top sometimes the reverse. Tried to add altitude to white line
coordinates - no apparent effect.

What application versions (if any) are you using?
Maps default version March 2009

Which operating systems and browsers are affected?
Mac OS10.4, 10.5 Firefox and Safari

Please provide any additional information (code snippets/links) below.

issue 268 - The drawing order presently is not in fact alphabetical (if it were
it
would be fixable by hand), but random, the map is drawn differently each time
it loads.

Yes not a dup.

What about being able to control the drawing order of polygons? If you add one
KML
polygon, then another, there is no control as to which is displayed on top
(like in
GIS).
