Orbit Mode for LookAt #315

What should this feature enhancement do?
I would really like a mode of the LookAt AbstractView that changes the 
controls of the view to keep the LookAt point in the center of the screen.  
The user can control the heading, tilt, and range (orbit around the LookAt 
point).  Of course, the user would be able to switch between this orbit 
mode and the standard mode (as it is today).

Are there any currently known workarounds that produce the same, or
similar, result?
