Is there a time frame of if/when memory leak detection will be supported?

Good question. We plan to implement leak detection in asan eventually,
but no particular plans yet.
In the meantime you can use heapchecker from
http://code.google.com/p/gperftools/wiki/GooglePerformanceTools

Any idea on a time frame when leak detection will be added? A time estimate would be
nice. 6 months, a year, or longer? Having leak detection built into asan would really
help with our automated testing, so any time estimate you could provide would be a
appreciated.

I give no promises, but < 6 months is quite likely.

Leak detection in ASan is avaliable now: https://code.google.com/p/address-sanitizer/wiki/LeakSanitizer

I'll update the documentation with more details this week.

I think this can be closed now.
For any issues with lsan please open separate bugs.
