HTC EVO 4G Force close #8

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Installs but force closes when trying to apply.

"The application LCARS Wallpapers (process com.example.android.maxpapers) has
stopped unexpectedly."

It is odd I have seen others say it worked on their EVO but it FCs on mine.
Any ideas?

I tried all formats in the downloads section.

I'd love to see a log from your phone. Here is a discussion about getting the
log output:

Anything in your logs related to "com.example.android.maxpapers"?

You can get aLogcat from the market to share your log.

I don't see anything suspicious from your sample. Anything with ERROR or
NullPointerException in logcat?

There was no nullpointer found

What I do I enter my search filter, clear log, cause error, load aLogCat. Just
so the log wil be smaller

I'm not very familiar with the logs. I've used them only lightly when
debugging force closes in the dev environment. You're welcome to post the
entire log here, but I don't know if there is any sensitive information in it.

and that is the one in the log.

It baffles me a bit. It is a resource not found exception, but all resources
are included with the package. Have you tried uninstalling LCARS and then
re-installing? Not simply installing over top?

Are you rooted with a custom recovery? You could try clearing your dalvik
cache.

If things still don't, I could try a one-off build with the resources
duplicated across the dpi folders. Not too hopeful there.

I noticed it said "Resources$NotFoundException" and wondered if they were in
the
package. Is there a place I can look on my phone to see if the items installed
correctly? I could install and look to see if something exists that did not
previously. If it helps I use Astro for my file browser.

I do a complete uninstall every time before I install a new version.

I am not rooted, factory right now.

Let me know what I can do to assist.

Thanks for giving this so much attention.

Try this test build. I've duplicated the resources into the drawable folder.

I'm very sorry, but I haven't cracked this yet (you can blame Brent Weeks and
then Skyrim for that).

I'm expecting to have some good time to look into this deeper come holiday
break. I will definitely update here when I have something to deliver (or have
any more questions).

Thank you very much for your continued interest.

Yeah between my kids and Skyrim my down time doe snot exist so I know what you
mean. Is there anything I can do to help test it out? If you want to open the
source for me I could play with it on my system when I have free time.
