More than likely, you've not added the live tv recordings directory to your
"Recording Dirs" on the settings screen. See FAQ - Question #5. Please confirm.

You are right. But how come there is no documentation about that important
step? I
needed to:
1. Find the recordings folder in the MythTV server
2. Share that folder (in my case with samba)
3. Map it in windows/linux
4. Enter the path

A more helpful error message is the least that could be done about this.

Maybe you skipped over this section (quoted qirectly) in the README file:

Requirements
================

  All Platforms
    - A working MythTV backend 0.21 or 0.22 (trunk)
    - MythTV recordings directory(s) accessible via the local filesystem
(pre-mounted using nfs, samba, sshfs, etc)

If you have more "straight forward" instructions, please feel free to change the
documentation and submit the changes as a patch. I'm all for better
documentation.
I'll look into making the error message more useful.
