Network logging does not work (both file and OutputDebugString) #1585

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Miranda Version : 0.9.52
Unicode Build : Yes
Test Build # (if applicable) :
Plugin Version # (if applicable) :

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Options - Network - Logging.
2. Check "Miranda Core Logging" and "ICQ Server Connections".
3. Check both "OutputDebugString" and "File", enter a valid file path.
4. Run Debug View and Process Monitor applications from the administrator
account.
5. In Process Monitor, enter Process name is Miranda32.exe".
6. Set "Online" status.

What is the expected result?

Log file must be created, Debug View must show log messages.

What happens instead?

Debug View shows nothing for Miranda. Log file is not created, there are no
records in Process Monitor containing log file name.

If I click on the "..." botton right to log file field, nothing happens.
Process Monitor shows only various DLL and Desktop.ini access.

I believe you need to run Miranda as admin to get it to work.

Ummm... Miranda logging is so ugly? Why an application that doesn't modify
global system state could need administrative rights to run properly?
