pull request for minor documentation and .gitignore fixes #3

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. try to install ghilbert and fail when you don't have appengine
2. type "git status" and see showthm.pyc and such

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
1. ghilbert should start up but one gets errors
2. expected output is nothing (if you haven't edited anything)

I have provided fixes to the README and .gitignore files at 
https://github.com/jkingdon/ghilbert.git . Please pull from there.
