Unable to boot on HP Laptop #35

Open Babyyoda777 opened 3 years ago

It’s stuck on the ODYSSEYn1x forever. Works on my 2007 netbook tho. The HP Laptop is an intel i3 1005g1. Secure boot and bitlocker are disabled as well. Thanks

raspberryenvoie commented 3 years ago

Is there any error displayed on the screen?

Babyyoda777 commented 3 years ago

no

raspberryenvoie commented 3 years ago

I'm sorry idk

Babyyoda777 commented 3 years ago

Update: It seems the problem is with only the Intel vesrion. The amd version works fine on my HP (Intel i3 1005g1), but the intel version doesn't.

raspberryenvoie commented 3 years ago

Thanks for the update. Can someone help with this issue?

reoccurcat commented 3 years ago

Interesting... I don't get why the intel version won't work on an intel computer. that's strange

reoccurcat commented 3 years ago

if its stuck on "odysseyn1x" it could be a bootloader issue maybe?

Interesting... I don't get why the intel version won't work on an intel computer. that's strange

because the "intel" version is for 32bit computers

Babyyoda777 commented 2 years ago

hmmm but then why would 32 bit software work on 64 bit os? This could be the issue tho. The netbook i have is 32 bit

raspberryenvoie commented 2 years ago

The 32-bit version works for a 64-but computer but it's not optimal

Any fix? I cannot boot to my windows pc and all drives are ruined. Formatting didn’t help

Well, uh, that doesn't sound like anything odysseyn1x would do, but if you can't boot or do anything with the computer at its current state, you may need to reinstall your operating system.

I think I might have pinned the issue. The intel version boots as a Touch Recovery Image therefore the laptop bios mistakes it for a recovery image and does some weird touchscreen keyboard stuff. This does NOT persist on the AMD version and only persists on HP Touchscreen laptops.

raspberryenvoie commented 2 years ago

Could be. Do you know any workaround to this?

The solution I found to this is just using the AMD ISO file which seems to work perfectly fine despite the laptop being an Intel i3

raspberryenvoie commented 2 years ago

This is normal. The amd64 iso is for 64-bit CPUs (AMD and Intel) and the i686 one is for 32-bit CPUs.

I am pretty late but this stackoverflow page can explain why 32bit things work on 64bit cpus https://stackoverflow.com/questions/28307180/why-do-32-bit-applications-work-on-64-bit-x86-cpus
