Latest pico installer downloading as unconfirmed[random_number].crdownload #28

Using Firefox (116.0.2 (64-bit)) and Edge (Version 115.0.1901.203 (Official build) (64-bit)) web browsers, clicking on the windows installer download link leads to downloading a file named unconfirmed[random_number].crdownload.

The current fix is very simple, just manually rename the file extension to .exe, and eveything works as expected from then on.

More info at https://www.google.com/search?q=unconfirmed+crdownload - it sounds like maybe your file hasn't finished downloading yet?

After digging some more I realized it was a local issue, as suggested, just not an incomplete download.

Edge browser also uses the ".crdownload" extension for some files even when downloads themselves were completed. My previous knowledge is that it was exclusive of Chrome.

Edge does this as an unintuitive extra security step designed to confirm that the downloaded file is safe to open.

That's also why changing the extension to ".exe" worked without issues.

I was pretty sure I got the same result with Firefox, but I might have been confused about that bit. My apologies.

Thanks for your replies.
