There are ways to update the existing registration on the {EventId} page. When you click on the register button again, the previously registered information is not updated in the registration page.
As part of the UX, maybe it is a simple fix to just disable the 'register' button, just like the Connect to Strava button is disabled after the OAuth flow is authorized.
