I'm not seeing a simple way, or any mention of it here, regarding validation (namely on the filter field). Front-end would be fine, but doing it the Laravel-Way™ would be nice, too (listening for 422 responses).

Try this. I've also seen other js lib in GitHub as well, try searching for it.
