I've implemented the machinery to support heterogeneous beams with reference pointing. It would be good to incorporate the same machinery, with the same interfaces, here to close the loop. I will work on incorporating the latest changes into Cubical in the mean time. We can then do a 1:1 comparison with the new implementation.
