2022/07/04 Meeting notes #3

Open Victoria-Samboco opened 2 years ago

Victoria-Samboco commented 2 years ago

At the meeting today, it was discussed about the results obtained two weeks ago, where it was supposed to do the following procedures:

1.Split the multiple-hour MS into scans (or even shorter units, e.g. 5min or 10min slices), using the CORRECTED_DATA column. This will give you a series of MSs per slice.

2.Subtract MODEL_DATA from corrected data (or alternatively, use CubiCal to generate corrected residuals), and write this into the CORRECTED_DATA column.

3.Compute the RA/Dec of the Sun for the midpoint of each scan or slice, and run chgcentre on that MS to rephase it to the Sun.

  1. Image the residuals.

From this it was concluded that the data used is not what it was supposed to use as the observation time (8pm-5pm) does not allow us to see the sun in the images.

It was also concluded that the changecentre is possibly not doing what was expected and that wsclean must be downloaded from gitlab.

Taking into account the file that was not the correct one, the next step is to follow the same procedures mentioned above starting from the Self-calibration step (step zero) using the file /home/ianh/solarkat/1645272078_sdp_l0_1024ch.ms of ~4 hours of observation L-band and then use the file in image-boom.yml in the UHF band for future comparison.
