I've added https://github.com/bbatsov/rubocop to the project and corrected most issues found by the Rubocop tool. I've tried to maintain existing coding style as much as possible. Some stuff was deliberately not touched yet, because it will require either a discussion about naming standards, or a longer manual rewrite.
