Your QTextCursor issue looks like a Qt bug:

After a long time after freezing, the application writes a connection error and
then works fine.

At what time in the log does the freeze occur?

To me it sounds as if the issue is with your network connection.

The change to use a single socket appears to be a mistake. Looks like telling
MPD to disable IDLE, process a command, and re-enable IDLE can really slow
things down. Especially when querying ratings values for the playqueue. So, for
1.5.0 I'm not going to leave the connection with 2 sockets.
As to this "issue" - I've run out of ideas. I don't see this on any of my
machines, so I'm not sure what to do. Sorry.

That should be "for 1.5.0 I AM going to leave the connection with 2 sockets."

I understand what you mean. The penultimate version with two connections work
better.

Closing this for now, I cant recreate the issue - and have had multiple
attempts at fixing.
