Brightest part of LED appears black #23

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.  linuxtrack120328.dmg running on OS X 10.6.8
2.  Isight camera  4.19
3.  IR filter + IR LED

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Brightest part of LED appears black (instead of white) and cannot be tracked.  
Intermittent tracking works on the edges of the LED.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
linuxtrack120328.dmg running on OS X 10.6.8

Please provide any additional information below.
When viewed using other applications e.g. chat program, brightest part of LED 
appears as expected.

Hello Peter,
I'll try to reproduce the problem...
In the meantime, could you try to check, what the picture from the camera looks 
like in some other program (iChat or something like that)? Do the LEDs have the 
expected brightness/shape?

The thing is, that some cameras do exactly what you describe - in that case, 
the only workaround I can recommend is to lower the current through those LEDs 
to avoid the sensor saturation...

Good question: �Looks as expected in quicktime - brightest part
appears white(ish). �It only appears black in linux-track.

I tried to reproduce the problem, but so far no luck; the thing is, that my 
camera has autoexposure on and no matter what I tried, I can't saturate it...

What I'll try to do is this:
I'll incorporate into linuxtrack a "debug feature", allowing you to save some 
shots of the raw data provided by camera as seen by linuxtrack...
Then I'd like to ask you to send them to me and I'll see what I find yout.

Right now, my Mac development area is not up (had to do some shuffling), so I'm 
not sure how fast I can get it up and running; if all goes well, I hope to have 
it ready for you in a day or two, but unfortunately I can't promise that.

Anyway, as soon as I have something, I'll let you know.

Hello Peter,
I'm attaching updated webcam driver, that will produce some pictures that will 
allow me to see what is going on...

To use it, download and unpack the attachment; it should be one file called 
qt_cam...
Ctrl click on the linuxtrack GUI program and select "Show Package Contents"; go 
inside, Contents/helper and rename the qt_cam that is already there and copy 
the new qt_cam at its place. The renamed file will allow you to go back.

Now run the ltr_gui and start the tracking; now the "pictures" are saved on 
your desktop - don't worry, only 10 of them are used in circular buffer.
Arrange the scene, so the problem manifest itself, at that point stop the 
tracking and close linuxtrack.

On your desktop there should be 10 files called shot0 to 9 - just pack them 
somehow 
and attach the package here...

When done, make sure to restore the original driver, as the new one might 
impact performance of your machine when the tracking is on...

Hi Michal,

It looks like the new debug qt_cam executable has a hard coded path to
something (I guess it is there on your system) - the following excerpt
from the log may help.
