Mac Webcam disappears #53

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I have installed LinuxTrack 0.99.5 on my Mac Pro (10.7.5) for the first time.
The set up went well and I selected Webcam and Face and installed to X-Plane
10.25. It was working in X-Plane with keys assigned but sensitivity was a
little too much. On returning to ltr_gui I found that the webcam was no longer
available with only wiimote listed. Clicking Refresh had no effect. Any
suggestions?

Hello,
may I ask which webcam are you using? Did you installed anything like Macam to
get it work?

So far I haven't noticed such a behavior and I also didn't receive report of a
behavior like that.

At this point, I have few ideas - does that webcam have any LED indicating that
it is working? It is still lit?

Also when you start the XPlane again, does it work(I mean the tracking)?

And may I ask you to attach the ltr_gui's log here (last pane, view logfile...)?
Kind regards,

Michal

Hi Michal
I am using a Logitech B910 USB HD webcam. I have no additional software
installed but can access the camera with FaceTime and Skype. Initially, when I
first installed ltr_gui, I could select from Track IR, WiiMote and Webcam. I
selected webcam and was able to view the various settings before I installed it
in X-Plane. I then entered X-Plane and carried out the set up successfully. On
starting up X-Plane the webcam in operation lights came on. I was able to
switch ltr-on and off, centre view and pause and have X-Plane respond to my
head movements. After that I was unable to see webcam in the ltr_gui list or
refresh. I have tried removing all evidence of ltr_gui, re-downloaded the code
and reinstalled without solving the issue. I have tried looking for a
configuration file (where the setting are installed) but can not find one. I
have also unplugged and reconnect the webcam and successfully tested it again
with FaceTime and Skype. I have retried X-Plane and although the the plugin
can be accessed the webcam in-operation light does not illuminate. The error
logs are attached.

Hello,
the setup files are located in ~/.config/linuxtrack directory.
There shouldn't be need to redownload the thing - the dmg file wouldn't open if
it was corrupted.

One thing to try is this: can you try and put the ltr_gui.app directly to your
desktop? The thing is, that there is a space character in the path and it
*might* cause some problems.
Kind regards,

Michal

Thank you Michal for your help. I moved ltr_gui to the Desktop as suggested
and also deleted the config files. Running ltr_gui from the Desktop I can see
Wiimote, Logitech Camera face tracker and Logitech Camera in the Tracking
Device dropdown. I was able to test the operation successfully in ltr_gui and
within X-Plane. I restart ltr_gui at the original location and it only had
wiimote listed. Problem solved. Many thanks.
