[Browser Bookmarks] Searching through bookmarks takes 5-10s making the extension unusable

Description

This used to be my favourite and most used extension. For some time now, I have avoided using it because searching for my bookmark takes 5-10s. This is not quicker then me using my mouse and bookmarks toolbar. Sometimes, even when I wait and select a bookmark I want, it opens up a wrong link.

Steps To Reproduce

Run the bookmarks extension as normal from the Raycast prompt menu. Search for a bookmark. ... waiting 5-10s

@thomaslombart I have around 40 bookmarks and have also experienced this issue. The browser bookmarks extension takes several seconds to find the relevant bookmark, and even then, struggles to find the correct bookmark.

I recently switched to using the Safari extension, which has a bookmark feature that works as expected. I actually migrated to Safari just so I could use this extension, as I rely heavily on quick bookmark access.

Two other data points:

• I've experienced the same slowness for browser-bookmarks when using Google Chrome.
• I shared this issue in an internal Slack channel at my company (there are lots of Raycast enthusiasts there ✨). And a few folks reported the same issue.

I'm running on Raycast v1.76.0. Love the product, and thanks for supporting Raycast in the open source community.

How many bookmarks do you have in Google Chrome? Is Google Chrome enabled in the Search Bookmarks extension (you can verify that with the Select Browsers action or ⌘ + ⇧ + S)? If that's the case and you're not using Chrome bookmarks, I'd recommend disabling it 🙂

I also have around 40 bookmarks in Google Chrome, and yep it is enabled when I've re-tested the Browser Bookmarks extension. Based on what browser I'm using I've tried selecting and deselecting my current browser, but I'm still experiencing the slowness that @mgalic reported.

What's interesting is that the Safari extension's bookmark feature doesn't have this latency. Out of curiosity I also downloaded Arc and used their extension for searching pinned tabs, but again, didn't experience the same latency as Browser Bookmarks.

Sorry for late reply, I didn't notice there was a question left for me. Here are few more details about my setup. Even though I have multiple browsers installed on my system, I have only enabled Chrome to be used in extension settings. I have 2 Chrome profiles open all all times. The one that I have configured to be used in Raycast extension has ~200 bookmarks. I have M1 Macbook Pro.

But it shouldn't take that long for a few bookmarks like this… I have ~60 bookmarks in Safari and it's loading fast on my end… Could you send a recording to see more closely what's happening?
