Adapt for use as library and fix exceptions #11

Only want to merge this into the main of the fork, not the original repo. The github message for comparing changes looks suspiciously like its going to be a PR into the original repo. I don't see anywhere to tell it what the PR should merge into so guess will just have to suck it and see!

Hi @felixalacampagne, sounds like you are trying to merge a PR into your fork. Check out Step 4 in these instructions to open a new PR there.

Unfortunately, I no longer maintain this project since I have not used WMC in many, many years. I hope you're able to adapt it to your use case!
