Force close on Screen edit #1

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Editing home screen by dragging icons around and or adding widgets
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output would be the ability to drag the selected icon to its
desired destination.
Result is that randomly the application will force close when editing
the home screens.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
     .98 Beta

Please provide any additional information below.
This occurs randomly when editing the home screen. Also when it Force
closes, i get no warning and it just goes back to my home screen. From
there i am unable to do anything and i must turn the screen off, then back
on to get the device to respond to anything.

The bugs were fixed in PandaHome_for_Droid_beta_0.98, I think it should not
case the
force-close.
And which function did you use to edit home screen?

do you know the app named "Log Collector" on the market.
when force close use the "Log Collector" send the log to me.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program, and I haven't seen any crashes
yet.

I will keep testing to see if that changes.

It's not giving me a "Force Close" error, but simply crashing and going back to
the
default Home application.

This is still an issue in .99

After flipping to just two or three screens and long pressing on an icon panda
home
restarts.

Here is a fresh log file of it.

@rutger1413, I just test it very fine.
is it everytime or sometimes? how frequency?
and could you export all the log of your phone?

The problems occurs every time with ease. To reproduce:

1:Fresh start of Panda
2:I can long press on any shortcut, widget, or the side menu buttons. All is ok.
3:If i switch to another screen and attempt to long press on a widget or icon
Panda
restarts.

1:If instead of long pressing from a fresh start i switch screens, i can long
press
and everything is ok.
2:If i switch screens and then attempt to long press, Panda restarts.

Similar issues, but it seems to be getting better.

1. Do any number of long press on widgets or shortcuts, open side menu, open
app menu.
2. go to another screen. Repeat step 1
3. Go to a third screen, long press on any shortcut or widget, Panda will
restart.

This also seems kinda random. Also before Panda restarts when i am long
pressing on a
widget, in the widgets place which would be top left of the grid, i get a
generic
Android icon.

The side menu stutter seems to be gone, but will sometimes cause Panda to
restart.

Also if opening the Apps drawer, the Panda restart will occur on the 2nd
screen.

Same issues as rutger1413. The application seems to be restarting pretty
regularly
even with .996. Almost always with a long press, sometimes when loading the
apps drawer.

Give me a few, i just uninstalled all of panda home, and then reinstalled JUST
the
beta, not the original 91PandaHome and stuff seems to be going good. I will
report
back once i re-created my home screen.

Still having crashes every time I interact with a widget and when I load the
apps drawer.

I can uninstall and recreate my home screens if you think it'll help.

Uninstalling all Panda Home apps and then reinstalling Definitely Helps. It is
not
perfect, but it is not as bad.

After setting up my home screens, it took a bit while setting them up for it to
crash. Longer than before.

I still get crashes when long pressing on widgets or shortcuts after switching
between about 3 screens. If i don't open the side Drawer or the Apps Drawer, it
will
take longer before it crashes.

There are no longer issues with the side Drawer stuttering.

Updated to .97 (i am at work, so if i don't get back to you too quickly im
probably
at a meeting or something)

Instability issues when attempting to edit multiple screens.

Long pressing on several icons on one screen is fine, same with second screen.
Usually the third screen causes problems.

Other times Panda will reset when editing two screens and opening the app
drawer.

Updated to .998
Same issue when editing multiple screens.

I deleted my log and restarted my device before i collected these logs.

Also i just noticed that when i flip through all the screens (start at 3, go to
1, go
to 5, go back to 3) and then attempt to long press on a shortcut, Panda will
restart.

Overall though Panda seems a bit smoother when flipping through screens and
opening
the app drawer.

Same here, it's nice and smooth when it's running, but the crashes seem to be
the same.

I can trigger it almost every time by trying to switch pages on the facebook
gadget
or when doing a long press on any gadget (with the quick menu disabled).

On a side note, I replaced my original droid yesterday with a new one (for
unrelated
issues). This droid has a newer build date, but the same programs and the same
crashes. So it doesn't appear to be device specific.

back I can post
up some logs....panda 1.7.1

Original comment by rutger1...@gmail.com on 22 Nov 2009 at 6:57

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
I am sorry. This issue will happen in multi screens or many widgets on desktop.
I
need some time to fix it. The 1.7.1 can work on Droid better if there are less
widgets. Too many widget or screens may work unstable. I am optimizing and
fixing now.

Glad to know you've identified the issue. I'm experiencing the same problems
described here. Most commonly is when trying to rearrange the homescreen or
bring
new icons out of the drawer.

I had an inkling it was Widget related.. hopefully you can get it ironed out
quickly. One of the main reasons to pick up panda is to have 7 homescreens
loaded
with widgets!

FYI, I just cut my widgets down to 9 (from 12) and it's still pretty unstable.
List:
Sticky Memo Widget
WoW Armory
MotoTorch
Pandora
DoggCatcher
Weateher Widget clock
Battery Status
Twidgit

(would like to add Astrid, Corp Cal, Facebook, Myspace, CalWidgit)

Let me know if there any other info I could give to help you, otherwise best of
luck
and hope to see an update soon :D
